Text Box: Text Box: Lisa is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee and graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Middle Tennessee State University. While at MTSU, Lisa participated in the inter-collegiate mock trial team, competing and winning awards at the regional and national level. After graduation from MTSU, Lisa was accepted into a linguistics program to further her studies in German at the Johannes Gutenburg Linguistic University in Germersheim, Germany. Upon completing her study abroad, Lisa started law school at the University of Tennessee and received her J.D. in 1999. Lisa began her legal career at a law firm representing large insurance companies and self-insured corporations. Through this work, she became well-versed with the ins and outs of how insurance companies process and defend claims and lawsuits, knowledge of which has become valuable in her representation of clients who are litigating against an insurance company. Lisa subsequently worked for several years as in-house counsel for Hospital Corporation of America, where she advised HCA-owned hospitals and surgery centers across the country.  While at HCA, Lisa provided clients with legal advice regarding daily facility operations with a heavy emphasis on physician contracts, fraud and abuse laws, peer review and credentialing matters, EMTALA, and the HIPAA privacy law.  Lisa later became the Chief Legal Officer for HCA's Ambulatory Surgery Division, where she oversaw legal operations for over 100 surgery centers.  Her legal experience was further expanded by serving as a legal consultant for the management teams of a range of healthcare entities and start-up projects. With a broad range of experience, Lisa is excited about her choice to return to private practice and in providing legal services to this community. Lisa primarily practices in the areas of family law, healthcare law, juvenile law, probate, personal injury and other general civil litigation. Lisa volunteers for several community service organizations but values her time most being a Big Sister in the Big Sister/Big Brother program.
